Arrival From England

Yes, the long awaited package from our favourite Helium.com Cheffie arrived today and smelled divine. Before I even had the chance to open the package the fresh scent of Lady Grey Tea delicately infused with the flavour of orange, lemon and bergamot, drifted up and made me want a cup right away.

Twinings Aromatics are a diverse collection of richly scented teas with heady individual aromas to suit every mood. There are other teas in the Twinings Aromatics range: Earl Grey, Decaffeinated Earl Grey, Lapsang Souchong or Chai.

Lady Grey Tea is originally from China and is a unique blend to Twinings. It is a lighter alternative to Earl Grey with a gentle, citrus flavour. It is a light, refreshing tea, pale gold in colour and infused with the flavour of orange, lemon and bergamot (bee balm). Enjoy Lady Grey's fresh taste at any time of the day. Brew for 3 to 5 minutes. Drink it black, or with a little touch of milk, or with a slice of citrus fruit. The ingredients are tea, 3% orange peel, 3% lemon peel and flavouring. The 125g box contained 50 tea bags originally. I won't say how many are left.

In 1706, Thomas Twining set up as a tea merchant in the London Strand. The firm has traded continuously ever since from the same address, an amazing and unique record. Now, as then Twining's teas give the world unequaled pleasure and satisfaction.

On another related topic is Canada Post. It left me awestruck that the package made it all the way to and through Canada, with the aroma wafting out and around the paper. It is not that I'm saying that postal workers in Canada are distrust worthy, but I would have thought the package would have been opened because of the organic nature of the contents. It is true that Canada Post is deathly slow at delivering mail. Indeed, this package was a week later than a similar package that was delivered to a Massachusetts address. However, Canada Post always comes through, just don't hold your breath.

"This calendar saves lives. Twenty-three male members of the Buxted FC stripped almost naked to make the calendar. They did their full monty so the fresh2o could make a calandar that makes a difference. The fresh2o charity raises money for clean water projects in the world's poorest areas where every 15 seconds a child dies from illnesses related to dirty water, There is an awful lot of 15 seconds in a year but buying this calendar will help to save lives. And, thanks to the Buxted strippers, the photos inside will raise a smile while you are doing such good. Spot the ball competition inside.... and thanks to the Candice Photography team (www.candice.co.uk)"
The calendar is much appreciated, Keith, though I'm still not sure I want naked men flaunting their buffed bodies around my kitchen.

Last, but not least is a post card showing the famous white cliffs of the Sussex Coast - the Seven Sisters, with the beautiful poem by Rudyard Kipling:

God gives all men all earth to love,
But since man's heart is small,
Ordains for each one spot shall prove
Beloved over all.
Each to his choice, and I rejoice
The lot has fallen to me
In a fair ground - in a fair ground.
Yea, Sussex by the sea!

Beautiful!!!!

Thank You Keith!!!

Gimme congrats on receiving your package. I bet the tea was delicious enjoy. It is amazing how the post offices are all so different with the times that people receive packages.

Hello Gimme

I was pleased to see that your package arrived while I was away sunning myself! Sorry I had to squash the box - it was only way I could get it in the envelope!

When we were kids we had to sing the Sussex song at school. We used to change the words to -

'Good old Sussex by the sea
Good old Sussex by the sea
You can tell by the smell
that it stinks like hell
Singing Susex by the sea'

And you know what? I heard ny 6 year old grandson singing the same words just a few days ago!

But I love my county really!
